Monograph — exhibition catalogue is devoted to the history, culture and ethnography of the peoples of Chinese Turkestan and Tibetan foothills and first of all to the Salar — a small people group (about 110 thousand people) of the Oghuz, South Turkic origin. The book is based on the material of the expedition organized in 2008 and studies of the rich collections of Saint-Petersburg Kunstkamera.
